traceloops: When I was about five, my family lived in a suburban house with a decent sized yard. Not in the front yard that required more upkeep as part of the neighborhood housing codes, but in the side yard, there were some naturally growing flowers, buttercups and similar things, that would attract insects from time to time. I remember one occasion where I caught a butterfly by slowly approaching it then pinching its wings between my thumb and index finger. I had seen a PBS show where people studying the migration habits of butterflies would hold them in a similar way to then tag the butterflies. I let it go shortly after, without having shown anybody. I was just fascinated in holding something so delicate.
